Good bits, here. Come on over to my den and check out the ramblings of a full-time feral woman.

Keep it coming!

Without pain, how do we know something is wrong?

When everything feels good, we've no idea bad things are on the move within. Pain is what gets our attention, gets us moving to fix what is causing the pain. And in that moving, we hope without thought. We hope that it will be fixed and stop hurting.

That is what is happening.

As to Wright's influence on Mr. Obama, i have to say that i am a Christian who has attended churches for most of my life. And in these churches, i've heard over and over how abortion is murder, how homosexuality is wrong. But even after hearing this over and over from the Christian community, i believe that women can decide for themselves and that gays should be able to marry. How can that be after hearing repeatedly my pastors talk against these things- sometimes harshly?

Because i, like most people, can hear information and discern for myself what i think. And the loudest Christians- those we hear blaming gays in America for 9/11 and Katrina- do not scare me away from my faith and i don't agree with them. At all.

i find it sad that hope seems such a ridiculous concept. Idealism is laughed at. Why? This is where fear kicks in, i think. To be disappointed yet again is what i think we fear. So hope is a scary thing. But is also a comfort, if we allow it to be that.

Good post. Very good.

Very thoughtful analysis. I thought your point at the end about how understanding the pain of the past goes hand in hand with embracing the hope of a brighter future.
